How does it work?

Old and damage photo with various tears, folds and tears. The main image includes four members of a band playing instruments and signing.
Restored photo of the same image as above. All cracks and rips have been removed and the sepia stain throughout has been removed.
  • Step 1. Send us your photo. Either by following our guide on scanning your old photos or by sending us your photo by post. We usually prefer to work from an original and scan it in ourselves as we then have much more control over the whole process.

We understand if the extra cost of postage along with the risk associated with postal services is too great for you - because of this we are happy to help in any way when it comes to scanning.

  • Step 2. Once we have received and assessed your photo, we will return to you with a quote. Free of charge!

  • Step 3. Once the quote has been accepted and payment is received we get to work bringing back your precious memories.

  • Step 4. We send you updates throughout the process to keep us in the loop. Once complete we will send you a side-by-side comparison of the original image and the restoration. At this stage, if you are not happy with the restoration you are welcome to make any further suggestions/requests for amendments.

  • Step 5. Once you are happy with your final image, if not discussed in the original quote process, you are welcome to order any reprints you’d like from our trusted photo lab. This is also when you’ll receive your final digital file for you to keep.

    The rest is history!

Photo Enhancement

This service is designed for light retouching, often including levels adjustments and making your old photo pop.

From £9 - £15+

  • Colour fade from age, sun damage may cost more due to severity.

  • Old photos can often begin to dull overtime. We can fix that by adjusting the levels and contrast.

  • Storing photos for long durations of time will usually end to small scratches and dust damage.

  • Old formats of photography often make lackluster visual sharpness. Using existing data we can sharpen images.

  • When sifting through old photos, you can often find photos that have strange crops or are focusing on the wrong subject, cropping and resizing are included in all orders.

Photo Restoration

Intentionally quite a broad service: Includes digitally repairing physical damage ranging from light cracks to missing pieces and everything in between.

From £16 - £39+

  • Uniform fading throughout an image - often caused by sunlight.

  • Usually patchy and caused by mould or water damage.

  • Photos stored in damp and dark places like garages or lofts can get damaged or go moldy due to condensation or direct exposure to a leak.

  • Photos can get quite brittle over time causing the top layer to crack or peel.

  • Usually caused by smashed frames or lack of TLC, deep cracks or scrapes often show up on older images.

  • Well-loved photos often get folded in half or creased in an album, this causes damage to the image if left unflattened.

  • Scratches or fissures going through faces can be repaired through a variety of processes, these processes can be made easier with a reference photo taken from a similar time.

  • Usually corners, missing parts of images are common and can often be repaired.

  • Partially shredded or torn-up images can be pieced together and repaired, assuming there are not too many missing peices.

  • Water Damage comes in a very wide spectrum of severity. Ranging from a lightly warmed image due to slight moisture exposure to whole ruined images from a major leak.

Colourisation

In general, this service includes either turning a black-and-white photo into a full colour image or restoring a faded colour image.

From £24 - £60+

  • Colorisation of solo people is the cheapest option and the price goes up depending on the number of people/objects in a scene.

  • Background can be quite complicated, especially with many objects within. With enough resolution, any black-and-white photo can be ‘restored’ to colour.

  • Whole scenes of people or places can be colourised. This process is made easier if the location is still (relatively) untouched to this day.
